Women's Coffee Extension
Last year, My Coffee Cup noticed that the quality of Rwanda's coffee was setting a new standard in East Africa. When our green coffee supplier told us about an available organic farm, we were thrilled to hear that the farm was run by women!
The project “The Women's Coffee Extension” gives women farmers new opportunities economic opportunities and social changes at hand. Many of these women participating in the project are widows or orphans of the 1994 genocide and had to support their families alone.
By purchasing this product you are supporting the project “The Women's Coffee Extension“ and with your help we can continue to purchase larger quantities of the products from the farmers in Rwanda and thus contribute to social and humanitarian development for this farm.
Members of the Women's Coffee Extension prepare their coffee for transport.
We can see here how the women sort out the unripe coffee cherries by hand. This increases the sweetness and harmony of the coffee

Peace Project Colombia
In December 2023, our coffee expert Maxwell traveled to Colombia to better understand coffee growing countries. During this time he met directly with resource centers, exporters and coffee farmers. On the way there, many relationships were made and projects were presented. One of them is Urbania Coffee's peace project in Medellin. The owners and operators are German-born Carl Kramer and local Ricardo Restrepo. Urbania takes a humanitarian approach to coffee by investing in smaller growing communities.
Purchasing this coffee supports farmers in the communities of Chaparral and Planadas. Until recently, this area was occupied by the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC). The rebel group's influence made it difficult for producers to work in the area, but eventually, after a peace agreement was reached, coffee farmers and their families were able to return to the area and grow coffee again.
They now grow traditional varieties of coffee many of them have also switched to organic farming.
Help and try our Single Origin Colombia: Peace Project.
The Peace Project is led by German-born Carl Kramer, who brings a sustainable and social mission to coffee exports.
The access roads to the farms are not suitable for cars. Instead, people use motorcycles or jeeps to get to the site.
In order to determine the optimal harvest time, the coffee trees must be observed. Ripe cherries appear red.
